You can smell it, you can feel it and you can see it - Fall is here! Many would argue the year’s most colorful season with golds, burnt oranges, reds and ambers doting the landscape. But, as with everything else in our busy, busy lives, the season’s beauty will be gone before you know it. This fall, we at Vela encourage you to make a real effort to stop and SEE.
Our passion is to empower women and there are lots of ways being outdoors provides more opportunities to cultivate that inner strength. One of these ways is to step away from the work calendar, that daunting chore list, the pesky cell phone…whatever it is that drains most of YOUR time…and get reacquainted with the bestest person to spend time with - YOU. When you are doing something for yourself without the distractions of everyday life you can take the time to really see and appreciate, and in turn, absorb the true good that nature has to offer. You’ve been dying to get out and hike - do that. And, while on the hike stop for 60 seconds and be still. Breathe in the fall air, feel the crisp breeze on your cheeks, see the greens, golds, reds in the leaves. You’ve been in a rut and want to try something new - do that. And, while enjoying the thrill of adding to your life experiences stop for 60 seconds and be still. How does your body feel? What do you see about yourself? What have you added to your life by trying something new? By really seeing the beauty that surrounds us in nature and the beauty that lies within we can become more peaceful, more enlightened and more appreciative. It doesn’t take long to stop and SEE, but it does take practice. To unplug, turn off and put away those distractions and step outside to absorb, be present and appreciate what is around us isn’t always easy in our hectic lives. However, allowing yourself to BE with yourself and see who you really are could be the key to living a happier and more fulfilled life.
